Dra. Tamara Sáez Gutiérrez, PhD
I am Tamara Saez, Ph.D., Full Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine of the School of Medicine of the University of Valparaiso, Chile. My PhD at the Catholic University of Chile and the University of Groningen in The Netherlands, and my postdoctoral training at the University of Alberta in Canada allowed me to investigate cellular mechanisms of vascular dysfunction in pregnancy disorders. This experience helped me to develop my research in the cardiovascular field, specifically in women, but also in diseases that negatively impact cardiovascular health, such as diabetes and hypertension. Currently, my research lines involve the study of the effect of diabetes on cardiovascular function and mechanisms of maternal endothelial dysfunction in pregnancy, where I closely collaborate with Dr. Rienzi Diaz in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Physiology of the School of Medicine at the University of Valparaíso.
